BTEC Art and Design

Completing Work

Complete any outstanding titles from before the end of term you did not have time to complete. Bring these to the first lesson with you.

Gallery Visit

If you happen to be visiting somewhere with any art galleries and you can, take a visit. Collect postcards, maps or visitor information. Keep everything safe, we may be able to use the work in your sketchbook to add marks in.

Photography Task

Use a camera or your phone to take some of your own photography over the summer holidays. Keep the pictures save-remember we won’t know what our theme is until September but if we can use some of your own photography in your sketchbook this will give you extra marks.

Drawing Tasks

It's important to not stop drawing during the summer break. You should aim to draw every week. This can be anything you want to draw but keeping up the skill of observing and drawing is key. You could use YouTube to follow a ‘how to draw’ video or copy something from a book or your phone or even draw from real life (with the object in front of you). Draw things you are interested in to help you stay motivated.

GCSE Art and Design

Coursework Catch-up

Use the checklist given to you by your teacher to make sure everything in your sketchbook is complete.

Annotation

Make sure every page in your book is annotated (written about) using the orange sheet.

Photography Task

Take photographs over the summer relating to your chosen theme for your ‘Reflection’ project. Using your own photos for your project really help to achieve higher grades in GCSE Art.

  • Continue improving your portfolios with the feedback sheet that has been given to you.

  • Ensure that you are using the printed booklet that I gave to you at the start of the year.

  • Use that to answer questions and check your word count is correct. You can also use it to see the examples that I have done for each question.

  • You need to make sure that you have at least 1800 words and maximum 2000 words.

  • Research the Crucible, specifically about the characters, context of the play and the playwright and the costume that is used.

  • Start to create a list in your books of different elements of performance. (Staging, Lighting, Costume, Props, Set, Sound) All of these elements WILL turn up in your GCSE.

  • Use the revision guide that I have shown you to create flashcards in preparation for year 11

  • Start to look at scripts for your comp 2 performances. This should be either a monologue (Solo) or duologue from a published play. If you are unsure whether it is a published play, you can google this information. Take a look at some online so that you have ideas that you can give to me at the start of Comp 2 next year

Students should go to ActiveHub | Home (https://activehub.pearson.com)

Students need to log in with their Active Learn login and password.

Teachers will remind students of their login before the end of term.

Students then go in to “My Tasks” which will show them the tasks which need to be completed.

Tasks will remain live throughout the summer holidays.

We ask students to check that they can log in to the site before the end of term.
